  • a lot is happening right now. It's hard, but it's cool and I really want to become someone who fights to use what I've been given and someone who endures regardless of the circumstances. I hope that I can become a strong person someday- not a hardened or stubborn person, but someone who fights the good fight and soldiers through the hard times.

Sarah Bourne and I had to think of examples of how bitterness actually hurts you more than the person you are bitter towards, and we came up with these.
    bitterness is like:
climbing down the offending person's chimney and dying so that your body clogs the way and santa can't bring them toys at christmas.
chopping off the head of your own dog to show that person how angry you are.
getting all of their whites dirty and then drinking all of their bleach.
jumping off a cliff so you can try to land on them.

haha. Those were some of the ones that made more sense. But my personal favorite was when Sarah said, "Bitterness is like trying to find a job when you're 6 months old."

    love,

Prom was fun, anti-prom was kickass, and I just majorly recovered on sleep. Good times.

I had my last official hangout with KC. It's amazing to be able to look at our past few years together and see how much she's taught me, how much she's done for me and put into me.
I tried to scribble out a letter beforehand to tell her what she's meant to me and it was so frustrating. I had to settle for a page and a half of brief summaries of the big ways she's helped me. It felt so inadequate!
We went to North Market and bought fun food- a french baguette, goat cheese cranberry spread, fruit smoothies, a watermelon, and this insanely good dessert thing that was divine. It was gorgeous out and we had a picnic wearing summery dresses at the park and talked and exchanged letters.
I feel so blessed to have had her helping me throughout high school. I don't want to know where I would've been without her consistent spiritual guidance and general love. I feel really really lucky. She loved me as I was but challenged me toward something better.
Bittersweet, fun, sad, hopeful. Kind of sums it up.
Exciting, though, too. The whole reason she's not mentoring me anymore is so that I can go into a new territory where I feel like God wants me to go. I'm excited about where my life is right now and especially where it's going.

  • You know you've got a lot going on when you've been writing in your new journal for 8 days and you're 50 pages in. Haha. It's actually just a pretty small journal, but that sounds impressive, doesn't it?
Unsurprisingly, I found out that the possible free car that I was maybe going to get fell through but it just reminds me how little money I have. It sucks, because things are kind of tied up until I turn 18 in July, because I can't even drive myself to a job until I get my license because I don't have money for driver's ed so I have to wait and blah blah blah. At least I have the little baby job that I do have, otherwise I wouldn't be saving anything whatsoever right now.
Why do europeans dress so much better than americans? The german kid that's been staying with one of my friends is about to go back to Germany, and I was just re-noticing tonight how amazing his jeans are. Where do they get them? How does it work? Who knows.

  • Romeo, Random! ... and a little Relaxation

These are a few of my favorite things during SPRING BREAK '07.
    A.K.A. this week!
I usually don't feel like I'm on break when I am, but for some reason I'm so excited about no school this week. I feel very free.
I slept over at my sister's house last night with a couple friends (Saw the Leo DiCaprio version of Romeo and Juliette for the first time. It was a memorable experience- lots of interesting interjections from Josey ), and I slept in today, journaled some in my new journal, finished reading Franny and Zooey by Salinger today... it's been lovely.

I'd recommend Franny and Zooey. It was really interesting, and it's a pretty short read.

easter was nice! I got to meet my Granpa's girlfriend. He's been on his own for 8 years, it made me happy to see him with someone. They were really cute.

I'm excited about reading East of Eden soon. Ohh Steinbeck.

    Happy Birthday, Aunt Leanne!
